Happy Friday loves!
Thank goodness the weekend is here! This week has been a crazy one for me! Busy is always a good thing and I consider myself to be very luck that my job tasks include tasting wedding cakes and looking at photos of gorgeous brides.
And speaking of gorgeous weddings, I am lucky enough to share Ally and Mark’s special day with you all. They were married on June 16, 2012 in Irvine, California. This wedding is a fab combo of DIY, rustic, vintage, outdoor, and pure romance. Who can beat that?
Here are some charming words from our bride Ally….
The dream I always had for my wedding completely changed when we got engaged. I found so many ideas and inspiration from wedding blogs and Pinterest. I’m a very crafty person, so I would find ideas and try to recreate them myself. My mom was a major part of my wedding planning. She was always the person I would bounce ideas off of. Whenever making major decisions, I always made sure to include Mark in everything (even though he usually told me to do whatever I liked best!)
The “arch” we were married under was built by my dad, that was so special to me. He also built our wooden cake stand. My “something old” was one of my Opa’s (grandfather in Dutch) old handkerchiefs. My mom also had a piece of my Oma’s (grandmother in Dutch) wedding veil sewn into the handkerchief. My new initials were my “something blue” on my handkerchief. The cake cutting utensils we used belonged to my grandmother. The owl locket on my bouquet (my grandmother used to collect anything, and everything “owl”) had pictures of my 3 grandparents who are no longer with us. It was very important to me to “have them with me” on my wedding day. My mother-in-law created the sign hanging from our ring bearer. My mom made all of the burlap runners that were placed on all the tables. My mom found all of the vintage silverware that we used on our sweetheart table, and my dad engraved them with all the little sayings that were on them. Our wine box was bought on Etsy by http://www.etsy.com/shop/engravingwiz I made a lot of “detail pieces” myself: burlap covered “MR” “MRS” on our sweetheart table, initial cake toppers, chalkboard menu and welcome sign, both my garters, wooden chalkboard hearts hanging from the bridesmaid bouquet mason jars, The “Bride”, “Maid of Honor” and “Bridesmaid” dress hangers, the “thank you” chalkboard signs and banner, the chalkboard cookie jars, the flower girl basket and ring bearer pillows, the card basket, escort cards, initials hanging from barn doors.
Thank you to Ally and Mark for allowing us to share their special day and thank you to Blair Nicole Photography. Congrats to this charming bride and groom!
Have a fantastic weekend!
