Happy Wedding Wednesday loves!!
Today’s wedding is going to blow you out of the water! It’s beyond beautiful and elegant!
Jessie and Justin were married on August 2nd, 2014 at Serenata Farm in Georgia. Their wedding was Southern glamour at it’s best! Jessie is a chef and Justin is in the NHL and plays for the San Jose Sharks so you know their wedding had great food and was a lot of fun!
Let’s hear more about our couple…..
How the Bride and Groom met: Generations of successful Blind Dates….
Jessie and Justin met on a blind date. While Jessie was working on a luxury yacht in the Caribbean some of her charter guests wanted to fix her up with their best friend. She was really curious once they told her he played professional hockey since she had grown up in a hockey family. Jessie’s dad, Tom Lysiak, was playing hockey for the Atlanta Flames and then Chicago Blackhawks when he met Melinda, Jessie’s mom on a blind date and have now been married 34 happy years. Also, Jessie’s Grandparents met on a blind date and married 65 years.
I was working on a luxury yacht when I had some guests that really wanted to fix me up with their best friend. During the week long charter these guests kept telling me that the best man in their wedding would be the perfect match for me and that we had to meet. These guests had only known me for a few days so I didn’t take their comments too seriously. The guests went on to mention that this guy “Justin” played hockey, that got my curiosity up because that’s how my parents met too. My mother was fixed up with my father on a blind date while my dad was playing in the NHL. I was working and living in the Bahamas at the time and Justin was playing hockey in California so the three hour time change and our crazy work schedules led us to emailing for four months before we ever got to meet each other. Our first date was in his hometown in Minnesota. Needless to say we hit it off. For the next couple of years it consisted of me flying to meet him in whatever city he was playing in or taking the extremely long flight to San Jose, California where he played hockey. In the midst of our long-distance relationship I was chosen to be on the TV show MasterChef with Gordon Ramsay. We had no idea what we were in for….I ended up making it to the top three out of some 30,000 people who auditioned. I was on the show for three months with no contact with the outside world. We weren’t allowed phones or computers which made it the hardest time of our relationship. We wondered if we could last. When the show finally ended it was like something clicked for Justin and I and we knew if we could make it through the show and the long-distance dating for years we could make it through anything. Justin soon after flew out to Georgia and asked my dad if he could marry me.
Wedding Dress:…. Since Jessie has modeled for over 13 years and probably modeled a thousand wedding dresses she knew she did not want anything she had worn or seen before. Jessie called a dress designer that makes dresses for Miss America and Miss USA. She had met Randall Smith at the Miss USA Georgia pageant where Jessie took 1st runner up…the winner wore a dress by Randall. Together they created Jessie’s dream wedding dress. He also did a long beautiful veil, he designed her earrings, hand stoned the dress and her shoes.
The Bridesmaid’s Dresses: The dresses were by “Mori Lee” a company that Jessie has been a runway model for years. The color was a blush peach keeping in line with the Georgia peach idea.
Best Part of the Wedding Day: .. Jessie’s dad walking her down the aisle. Her dad found out he had Leukemia last year and before the wedding it was touch and go. Jessie’s biggest wish was that her dad would be able to walk her down the aisle and be able to see her get married…and he did it!!!
Fun Fact: The flower girls are Brandy Angel’s daughters! Brandy met Jessie at a charity fashion show for Cure Childhood Cancer and became fast friends! Alora and Alden were the perfect flower girls! The girls wore dresses made by A Kid’s Dream in a dusty rose with a silk bodice, tulle skirt, and rose accents on the belt. The girls felt like they were real princesses in a fairytale.
Cake: There was never a doubt that the ONLY person to make the cake would be Debra Adams of “Cakes Design by Debra”. Her cakes have graced so many magazines and even covers.. She makes her own fondant by hand and has a special way of making a wedding cake a gourmet delight.. super moist. The cake for Jessie had 6 different layers. Since Debra is a close personal friend she allowed Jessie to come over and help make some of the hundreds of edible flower pedals that decorated the cake. The most amazing thing was that Debra gave this exquisite cake to Jessie as a wedding present.
Three generations of successful blind dates equaled one perfect southern wedding!
Congrats to the happy couple!!
