Happy Monday loves! Did anyone else catch the Miss USA pageant last night? I always love the evening gown portion! Seriously, those dresses are amazing! And speaking of amazing, today I have a Historic Battlefield Engagement Session that is amazing, too!
Maggie and Daniel grew up in a small town and met shortly after high school and started dating. They have the sweetest love story. I love this story told from Maggie herself.
This past August, Daniel decided to join the Army National Guard. Even though we had been separated by 5 hours during college, he and I both knew that basic training would be a test for us. I can honestly say those 10 weeks were the longest/hardest 10 weeks out of all the time we’d been dating. I am not from a military family and was very nervous about the whole thing.
Knowing this, he planned in advance. The first week he was gone (before he could write to me), he had his sister send me a package. It included an old shirt of his, 4 “open when” letters, and a long letter I could go ahead and read. Even though he wrote me almost every single day during those 10 weeks (67 letters!), there was occasionally a day I didn’t get a letter. On one of those (especially hard) days, I opened one of the “open when” letters. I was so disappointed to find a note that said only, “Tell my sister to send it.” I was expecting something I could read immediately to make me feel better. I did what the note said and texted his sister the message.
Moments later, I got an email from him. Inside was a 10 minute video he made for me the day before he left. It was one of the sweetest things he’d ever done for me. Of course, I cried watching it but I’d never been more grateful that he took the time to create something in advance for me.
That is like something straight out of a movie!
Their engagement pictures are just as beautiful as they are. They chose this historic Yorktown surrender battlefield for their location which added some really unique and beautiful touches. Beautiful pictures for a beautiful couple!
Congratulations Maggie and Daniel!
