Happy Monday loves!
Hope you all had a wonderful wedding weekend. (Can’t wait to see the photos!)
Jessica and Jason were married on June 08, 2013 in Union Pier, Michigan. This wedding is absolutely gorg! It checks off all major boxes in my book. Vintage? Check. Rustic? Check. Outdoors? Check. DIY? Check. And best yet….Eco-friendly? Check. There’s just something about DIY elements to a wedding that makes things so personalized and meaningful. I think it’s because it’s not easy doing anything DIY and it takes time and effort. It shows the labor of love that goes into a wedding.
Here are some lovely words from our photographer, Valerie Ott Photography….
Every detail they created for their wedding meant something to each of them. You will notice there is a big orange VW bus. Jessica’s dad drove the exact bus when she was in high school. After he passed away, her and her sisters would take a picture of any orange VW bus they saw and would send the pictures to each other. After a while, the bus was a symbol of their dad. Jason found this bus and had it delivered to the rehearsal dinner. And there it sat all weekend; watching over the wedding. Both Jessica and her sisters felt like their dad was present the entire wedding weekend, thanks to this special gift from Jason.
Jason and Jessica both love antiques and love repurposing old things. Everything for this wedding was hand made. Jason built the wedding arbor out of driftwood. He created an entryway for this guests out of old french doors. He created two bars out of reclaimed barn wood. He made light fixtures from old house windows. He made bar tables from old ladders and barn wood. It was a “reclaimers” dream!
Toward the end of the evening, we walked to the beach, just a few steps away. It really was a perfect evening for the two of them.
Congrats to Jessica and Jason! Also, a special thanks to Valerie Ott Photography for doing an amazing job (like always!)
