Happy Friday loves!!
Hoping everyone is having a great Friday and here’s to an even better weekend!
Amie and Jackie are such a sweet and charming couple. Their engagement shoot represents two of the things I love most….New York City and romance.
Amie and Jackie shot their charming engagement shoot on March 8, 2014 in Manhattan, New York City. The main event took place at the New York Public Library. The Library is the most famous in NY and hugely popular to host celebrity weddings! (Remember Carrie Bradshaw’s wedding?)
Now I hand the blog off to our lovely couple…..
The story of Jacq & Amie begins (more or less) one fateful evening in December, 2009, at Amie’s annual Holiday Champagne Party. Jacq and Amie have a mutual friend, Joey Giliberti, who had rsvp’d that he was coming with a plus one. That plus one was Jacq….
Amie: I remember that I had seen pictures of Jacq with Joey and thought she was beautiful. I was looking forward to meeting her that evening, but there were so many people at the party that I didn’t get much of a chance to talk to her. I remember what she was wearing, though- a beautiful sweater dress that looked amazing on her. I kept trying to make my way to her, but kept getting pulled away by other guests. The next thing I knew, she came up to me and told me that she had had a really nice time, and that she and Joey were leaving. I was crushed. I told her there was no way I was letting her leave, that I had barely gotten a chance to talk to her. But she left anyway! I couldn’t believe it. She seemed immune to my charms!
Jacq: I was hardly immune to her charms. I wasn’t about to let her know, but when she put her arm around me and touched the small of my back, I felt this insane chemistry between us.
Amie: I knew I had to see her again, so I found a way to conveniently ask her to drinks with Joey. Then I proposed a vegetarian dinner at my place. I pride myself on being cool under pressure, but I have never been as nervous as I was that night. When Jacq arrived, I had to chug a glass of wine just to calm my nerves. I’m pretty sure I did a terrible job of hiding it.
Jacq: It’s true, she did a terrible job of hiding it. But it was so cute, it makes me smile every time I think about it. To this day, if you ask me what the best meal of my life was, it was that vegetarian dinner. It was four romantic courses of pure deliciousness. After dinner, I couldn’t wait to kiss her. We have been kissing ever since….. with a few pauses here and there.
Amie: Relationships are hard. And whoever coined the phrase, “timing is everything” was a GENIUS. When Jacq and I first met, we were not ready for each other. In many ways. Both of us had some growing up, some learning, and some exploring to do.
Jacq: Everybody has their “stuff,” and figuring out whether someone can be okay with your stuff takes time, and testing, and pushing and growing. We spent a few years pushing each other and in many ways, testing how strong the collective “we” could be.
Amie: It wasn’t always easy, and often it was very hard. For both of us. But through all of it, my heart kept feeling the pull towards Jacq. And as that pull grew stronger and stronger, I became more and more convinced that there was no way I was ever going to be able to feel like my heart was whole again until I tried, without pride, reservation or holding back, to create happily ever after with Jacq.
Jacq: Amie never left me, my mind would slowly wander back to wherever she was. My life was never the same after I had felt her incredible love. In my heart, I kept the door open to the possibility of us, not knowing if we would be in the same time and place to create an us.
Amie: 2013 was the best year of my life (until 2014). 2013 brought Jacq and I full-circle. After several years of short-lived starts and stops, Jacq and I were both finally in a place where we could love and trust each other in ways we had not been able to reach before.
Jackie: Like before, we had our ups and downs, and had some hard times for sure. But UNLIKE the times before, we both stuck it out. We pushed each other, but this time there was bending instead of breaking. And with each bend, we began to see how the rest of our life could look together. We began to envision our happily ever after together.
Amie: And so, in December 2013, I planned a romantic surprise trip to NYC.
Jacq: I didn’t even know we were going out of town. I thought we were going to the Indian Palace for dinner!
Amie: I arranged for us to have skating lessons at Rockefeller Center. It was the most fun I have ever had in my life. You’d think I would have been nervous, given what was to come next. But I was so happy, so excited to be asking Jacq to be my wife, that I found myself almost giddy. At the end of our lesson, as though she was reading my mind, Jacq said she wanted to skate over to the tree for a closer look. I can never thank her enough for that perfect intuition!
Jacq: I had no idea that right there, under the biggest, most beautiful Christmas tree, our lives would change forever, our commitment to each other would grow, that Amie would ask me to be her wife. When she asked, I was completely overwhelmed with emotion – shocked, happy, full of gratitude, and of course I said yes! Amie is the most amazing woman I have ever known, I love her more than my pride, my fears. She is my home, my future, she is everything that is good and right in this world, she restores my faith in humanity and I am in love with her, mind body and soul. Call me codependent, but my happiness depends on hers, and I have never been more happy. The best part about my day is falling asleep next to her and waking up to face each day with her, and I could’t ask for more than to do that for the rest of my life. Hell yes, I will be your wife.
Amie: Proposing to the woman of your dreams is pretty incredible. But, being proposed to…. is unimaginably overwhelming. I didn’t think it was possible to feel closer to Jacq or love her any more until SHE surprised ME with a trip to NYC. There has never been a more perfect weekend in all of my life than the one I shared with her this summer in NYC. Jacq took me for a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge and she had made a love lock for us to leave on the Bridge. And I just remember that my heart was literally overflowing with love and gratitude for this incredible, amazing, thoughtful, beautiful woman that I was going to get to marry. And then she pulled out a ring, and proposed to ME. It overwhelms me every time I think about that moment. Jacq has this way about her that completely disarms me.
Jackie: In that moment, there was no one else in the world but us. There were no problems, no worries, no reservation or regret. In that moment our journey made perfect sense to me. All that we had been through, all of our happiness, sadness, ups and downs, everything had happened for this perfect reason. Our love had found a way to bring us to this spot, this single perfect moment in time.
Amie: I said “yes.” To a lifetime with the most amazing woman I have ever met in my life. She is my love, my sparring partner, my rock, my best friend, my co-creator, and the woman I cannot wait to create a family with.
Jackie: Amie is my everything, and I cannot wait for November 20, 2014, when we will be wives.
Congrats to Amie and Jackie!!!!
